About the Centre/Service
Appletree Hill Preschool is a community-based sessional kindergarten overseen by a volunteer Committee of Management and is situated in Glen Waverley in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. Our Preschool is rated Exceeding the National Quality Standards in all 7 quality areas. We provide a safe, secure and respectful environment which enables children to learn at their own pace, building on their strengths and following their interests. We are a well-resourced centre and our indoor and outdoor environments support all aspects of children’s learning and development. Our programs are based on the VEYLDF & EYLF and their guiding principles, practices and outcomes. Description
Description: We invite expressions of interest from experienced Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Educators to join our well-established team from Term 1 2024. The role will primarily be working with the funded 3-year-old kindergarten group assisting to deliver the program along with lunch cover working with the 4-year-old rotational kindergarten group. The role offers employment for 24 hours a week (10 hours contact, 3 hours lunch cover and 11 hours non-contact & management time which includes educational leader & policies). Ideally the successful candidate will have prior experience working in the Early Childhood field. They will have sound knowledge of early childhood development, the Early Childhood Frameworks and the planning cycle including observation taking and goal setting. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of our team and take on the role as the service’s Educational leader. Hours for this role may increase in 2025.

Qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications and registrations prior to commencement:
- Qualifications suitable for an early childhood teacher under the Education and Care Services National Law. Education and Care Services National Regulations and the DET Kindergarten Funding Guide e.g. Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, or Bachelor or Education (Early Childhood Teaching).
- Be registered as an Early Childhood Teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, and continue to renew/maintain the registration during the course of employment.
- Must be able to fill the position of Nominated Supervisor or be nominated as a person in a leadership position or with responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the service in accordance with the Regulations if required by the Approved Provider
- Hold a current
- Working with Children Check
- Child Protection/Mandatory Reporting Certificate,
- approved first aid qualification,
- approved anaphylaxis management qualification and
- approved emergency asthma management qualification,
