About the Centre/Service Gordon Street Pre-School is a community-run kindergarten nestled away in the quiet bayside suburb of Beaumaris. Gordon Street Kindergarten has been a part of the Bayside Community for over 60 years, having been established in 1959. It is a community-based, not-for-profit kindergarten, managed by a parent-run Committee of Management that is elected each year at an annual general meeting. Gordon Street Pre School maintains a philosophy that children learn most effectively through a meaningful play-based program that is developmentally and age-appropriate. Each child’s unique learning style is respected, and children are provided with both free and structured play to enable development of their social, emotional, physical, cognitive and communication skills. The environment is friendly, safe, secure and respectful; inspiring a community of learners both socially and independently.
Work Days of the Role Tuesday am, Thursday am
Hours of Work of the Role 8 hours per week in Terms 1 & 2, increasing to 8.5 hours in Term 3 and 9 hours in Term 4
Description Gordon Street Pre School is seeking a passionate and motivated Diploma or Certificate Qualified Educator to join their small and close-knit team in 2020 as 3-Year-Old Co-Educator.  An opportunity to work additional hours with the Extended Care session is also on offer (Wednesday afternoons 1pm-5:15pm), as well as for additional casual relief work in the 4-year-old program.   The successful Co-Educator will work alongside the 3-Year-Old Teacher to assist in the delivery of high-quality programs that nurture the growth and development of children through play.  They will be an essential part of the Gordon Street Pre School team, working collaboratively with educators, children and families to deliver a safe and engaging program. This is a permanent, ongoing part-time role with leave entitlements. The role reports directly to the Director and the Committee of Management. The successful candidate will have:
  • A passion for early childhood education
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with educators, parents, children, and the wider community
  • Strong sense of teamwork and a collaborative approach to work
  • Understanding of the National Quality Framework, VEYLDF and National Laws and Regulations
  • Understanding of the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent as approved by ACECQA)
  • Working with Children’s Check
  • Current first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management training
  • Police check (or willing to obtain)
