About the Centre/Service
The Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is a small, not-for-profit community run childcare centre located in a quiet residential street in Balaclava. The Centre only offers 40 places across three rooms Babies (0-2 years), Toddlers (2-3 years) and Kindergarten (3-5 years) and is open from 7:30am – 6:00pm for 50 weeks of the year.
The Avenue is managed by a supportive committee of parents dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all children and staff and operates under stable financial governance. We have a strong and proud history of staff retention which the Centre prides itself on and there is a substantial professional development fund provided for individual staff growth. We have maintained all of our staff through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Babies Room Job Advertisement - May 2020
The Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is currently looking for a Cert III or Diploma qualified educator to join our team. The full time position will be based in our Babies Room working alongside one other educator and up to 8 babies (0 – 2 years old). The position offers above award wages, a monthly RDO, paid annual, sick leave and public holidays. Industrial Agreement/Award -Professional Childcare Standard 2018.
The Position
We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, nurturing, reliable and like minded educator to join our team as an educator in the babies’ room where we care for up to 8 children under two years old. The Avenue has a strong play based philosophy, and we focus on creating close and trusting relationships with our families and community. With a focus on children’s individual interests, we provide many opportunities for children to discover and explore through play in an unhurried and relaxed manner. Children are given a voice and the power to make decisions regarding their play and social interactions.
Required Qualifications:
Cert III or Diploma Qualification
Current First Aid and CPR in Education and Care Setting Certificate with Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training
