About the Centre/Service Ewing Kindergarten is a vibrant, inclusive community kindergarten providing quality 3 and 4 year old kindergarten programs in Malvern East. Established in 1946, Ewing Kindergarten is a not-for-profit sessional kinder run by a Committee of Management made up of parent volunteers. Our curriculum is play based and emergent, and our focus is on supporting and extending the children’s interests and strengths to develop confidence, curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning. Our teachers and educators are experienced, enthusiastic and committed to our children, programs and the ongoing success of our kindergarten. As a kindergarten we are committed to providing a child safe environment and all staff must demonstrate their ongoing responsibility to ensuring child safety. Work Days of the Role Monday & Wednesday with flexible planning hours

Description We require an experienced and motivated Early childhood Teacher for our two day 3 year old group on a Monday and Wednesday, starting Term 4 in 2022. Upon request, successful applicants will be considered for a 2023 start. Interest/knowledge of teaching children literacy and STEM experiences through nature, sustainability and indigenous perspectives within a play-based program will be advantageous. There are 22 Children in the Joeys group and two supportive Co-Educators in a community/parent run kindergarten. This is a Fixed-contract position until the end of 2023, with a possibility of changing into ongoing. To be successful in this role, you will require:
  • An ACECQA-approved Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (minimum)
  • Experience in a similar leadership position or have strong aspirations to lead
  • An in-depth understanding of program development and behaviour guidance strategies, and can mentor others in this practice
  • A passion for educating and creating positive experiences for children
  • Be an engaging and effective communicator, both with the children in your care and their families
  • You understand your obligations under the Child Safe Standards and are comfortable working within the National Quality and Victorian Early Years Learning Frameworks
  • Currently hold, or are willing to undertake, certifications including a Working with Children Check, National Police Check, First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management.
 
Qualifications Bachelor of early childhood education or ACECQA approved equivalent

Additional Requirements Must have proof of Covid-19 vaccinations
