23 JunELAA CEO update 23 June 2020

Posted on 23 Jun 2020

Dear members and friends,

Our community unfortunately continues to experience the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic so I hope you are all happy, healthy and safe.

Here at ELAA, we have continued to advocate at a Federal and State level to ensure the sector is protected and funded appropriately at this challenging time.  To that end, whilst our recent advocacy to the Morrison Government  acknowledged the need for funding changes at a Federal level to ensure all service types could remain viable, we were very disappointed in the decision to re-introduce fees for families and the removal of the Job Keeper funding.

In a Victorian context, we recently sent a letter to Education Minister, James  Merlino, advocating  that the interim funding arrangements introduced in term 2 should be continued into Term 3.  This included a recommendation for continued relief payments to cover parent fees, support for unfunded three year old programs and continued funding for cleaning services.  An announcement on the outcomes of our advocacy for Term 3 from the State Government is expected in the coming days.

Thank you to all our members that have renewed their memberships for 2020/21.  To renew today, please  CLICK HERE .  Don’t forget we have introduced flexible payment options on top of holding the fees at the same level as 2019/20.  We look forward to supporting you and your service/s into 2020/21 and beyond.
