08 MarANZSCO review
ELAA has provided a submission to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) to inform the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) review.
ELAA has advocated that the language in ANZSCO should be amended to recognise the professionalisation of the workforce and include a shift from child care worker to early childhood educator.
ELAA has also advocated that the tasks associated with the roles be amended to reflect the key role of educators in providing play based learning opportunities. This expands on the current focus on supervision, care and hygiene alone. ELAA will continue to seek opportunities to reinforce the professionalisation of the workforce, and will keep members updated as the ABS conducts its review.
