24 AprRepresenting member interests

Posted on 24 Apr 2024

Representing our member’s interests is a big focus for the ELAA team, and our CEO, Andrew Cameron, is spearheading this work by completing the second leg of his regional roadshow, visiting and learning from our members.

Rural services are incredibly important within the ECEC sector, and ELAA is prioritising an approach to address a set of longstanding rural specific issues that our members are actively seeking development on. Last week Andrew drove a further 1,000 kms to speak with some of our regional members operating over 100 services across Western and Northern Victoria. Andrew’s conversations with them are being fed back to ELAA’s advocacy and policy agendas, highlighting member feedback.

ELAA is continuing the work of progressing our members’ interests, and this thorough representative work is happening every day, by taking part in the Budget Lockup along within the community of industry peak bodies from our sector, presenting to the Productivity Commission in its enquiry into the ECEC sector, and anywhere we see valuable opportunities to drive progress.

We are also working on updating our advocacy priorities and will soon be seeking member input to inform our work with relevant stakeholders, including the Victorian Department of Education (DE). Minister Blandthorn and senior executives within DE are welcoming input from ELAA, and we believe that collaboration is the most effective approach to seeking progress on our member’s concerns.

If you would like to increase your involvement as an ELAA member in our representative work, please connect with ELAA’s Senior Advisor Advocacy & Sector Engagement, Noah Hurst, via email on advocacy@elaa.org.au, or keep a lookout for a series of opportunities to engage with us and our advocacy agenda in the coming months. These events will provide greater opportunities to get involved and connect with your peers across the sector. Together we can apply the collective strength of ELAA’s members to achieving meaningful improvements.
