06 FebSkilled migration visa nomination program

Posted on 06 Feb 2024

The Victorian Government has launched a Skilled Migration Visa Nomination Program aimed at Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs) on temporary visas who wish to stay and work in Victoria on a permanent basis. This initiative:

  • adds five points to the overall Australian visa application points test
  • is entirely cost-free
  • does not require a job or employer sponsorship
  • provides unrestricted work rights in accordance with visa conditions
  • provides a pathway to permanent residency.

What makes this program especially attractive is its independence from job offers or employer sponsorship, granting ECTs flexibility in their migration journey. It opens doors to unrestricted work rights in Victoria, along with clear pathways to permanent residency through two key visas:

  1. the Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)
  2. the Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491).

This program is not just a pathway to permanent residency; it’s an opportunity to contribute to Victoria’s thriving ECEC sector. Applications submitted by the end of February will be given priority in the current assessment round.
