Posted on 23 Nov 2022

The Andrews Labor Government announced its commitment to investing $584million into 50 new Victorian Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services by 2028. On Sunday 20 November, a media release was published outlining the first 30 locations of these services. These 30 locations included four fast-tracked childcare centres in Eaglehawk North, Fawkner, Murtoa and Sunshine.

This initiative is intended to provide access to ECEC in areas of Victoria that need them most. A further $159million will be invested in attracting and retaining skilled workers within the sector. ELAA will continue to engage with the Victorian Department of Education and Training about the location of new ECEC centres with the aim of maximising access to quality early years education for all Victorians, particularly those that are considered the most vulnerable.
