26 OctVictorian Government’s Funding Commitment

Posted on 26 Oct 2022

The Victorian Government has announced an exciting $705 million commitment to upgrade and build 180 state-owned kindergartens across Victoria.  ELAA has been informed this will be available for community managed kindergartens on government sites.

The Government is also investing a further $19 million in programs that will aim to attract and retain teachers. This will aid in addressing workforce pressures and is welcomed by ELAA as one step of many necessary to solve the complex workforce issues our sector faces.

Premier Andrews acknowledged the importance of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC), recognising the majority development of a child’s brain occurs before the age of five. It is exciting that the Victorian Government is listening to the advocacy work from ELAA and others in the ECEC sector and committing to funding not only government owned services but acknowledging the importance of workforce investment.
