30 JulSeeking your insights into Victoria’s early childhood reforms

Posted on 30 Jul 2019

Have your say... the Victorian Department of Education and Training is seeking the insights of staff in early childhood services into Victoria’s early childhood reforms.

The Early Childhood Strategic Evaluation examines major reforms released as part of Victoria’s early childhood reform plan released in 2017. For teachers, Maternal and Child health practitioners, Supported Playgroup leaders and allied health practitioners the survey examines the impacts, benefits and challenges of key reforms.

An invitation to complete the online survey will be provided to staff in early August through their service provider. Please look out for the survey. We are asking for the survey to be completed during August. ACIL Allen Consulting has been engaged to carry out this evaluation.

The brief online survey will be provided to selected sites and services involved in the following six focus reforms:

  1. School readiness funding – providing additional resourcing to kindergartens based on children’s levels of need
  2. Expansion of Learning Places – development of Department regional staff to support the implementation of reform activities
  3. Improving Kindergarten Quality Program – increasing support for all services with a kindergarten program to improve their quality
  4. Expanding access to the Enhanced MCH Service to 15 per cent of families until their child turns three
  5. Providing an additional MCH family violence visit for women and children experiencing, or at risk of, family violence
  6. Expanding Supported Playgroups across the State providing more support for parenting, including expansion of Supported Playgroups so more are available and in every local government area.

The survey can be completed in various online devices, such as computer, tablet and phone. The survey is an important part of broader consultation activities which will also involve interviews with parents, case studies of reform implementation across a sample of eight Victorian communities and engagement of Victoria’s peak early childhood bodies.

Your feedback is extremely valuable.
