27 AprChanges to COVID-19 restrictions

Posted on 27 Apr 2022

A further lifting of COVID 19 related restrictions came into effect from 11.59p.m this Friday, 22 April.

The Department of Education and Training has provided advice in its latest direct send to services about the changes for the sector including:

  • Masks will no longer be required by ECEC staff or visitors in early childhood settings
  • Close contacts will no longer have to quarantine – provided they wear a mask indoors and avoid sensitive settings. They will also need to undertake at least five negative rapid tests over the seven days that would previously have been the self-quarantine period
  • People are exempt from testing or quarantine for 12 weeks if they’ve had COVID-19 – up from 8 weeks.

Vaccination requirements for staff and volunteers performing work in ECEC settings continue. Parents, carers and other adult visitors not performing work are not required to show evidence of vaccinations.
