14 JulCollection of vaccination information

Posted on 14 Jul 2022

Changes made to the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment (COVID-19 Vaccination Information) Regulations 2022 allow employers to collect and hold the vaccination information of employees, contractors, volunteers and students on placement in their workplaces if they choose to have vaccination requirements to keep their workplaces COVIDSafe.

These updated regulations will help employers decide, based on consultations with staff and families, on what measures are most appropriate to keep their workplaces and workforce as safe as possible from COVID-19.

These regulations do not require workers to be vaccinated, but ensure employers have the information they need to make decisions on necessary control measures at their workplace, which may include vaccination, and to implement the control measures decided upon.

A template for recording this information is available in section 8.7 of the COVIDSafe Settings Guide.

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has updated its recommendations around fourth doses of COVID-19 vaccination. From Monday 11 July 2022, people over 30 years will be eligible for a fourth dose. ATAGI recommends that people aged 50 to 64 years should have their fourth dose, while those aged 30 to 49 years may choose to have a fourth dose. For further information see the ATAGI website.
