Learning Brought to Life “Classroom Culture: The 5 Principles”

This session will provide an overview of Classroom Culture and CPI’s new programme for Educators.  Classroom Culture is a programme for educational professionals interested in fostering a positive culture within their setting, starting with individual classroom practice.  Participants will leave with an understanding of the aims of the programme and an overview of the following 5 Principles upon which the course is based and how they apply to early years settings.

  • Consistent Calm Behaviour
  • Sustainable Routines
  • First Attention to Best Conduct
  • Scripted Interventions
  • Restorative Approaches

By the end of the webinar participants will:

  • Gain an awareness of why the Classroom Culture programme has been developed.
  • Describe how Huckshorn’s Six Core Strategies can support the development of a positive school culture.
  • Review the 5 Principles of Classroom Culture.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Maria Taylor

Maria has 17 years’ experience in senior leadership roles at a residential special academy, catering for children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

Maria completed a  BSc in Health & Social Care Restraint Reduction, developed in conjunction with CPI and the University of Wolverhampton.  which led her to successfully introduce a programme at the academy that was child centred and restorative, underpinned by Pivotal MAPA® and Pivotal principles.

Maria also holds a Masters in International Education Leadership from the UCL Institute of Education, a world leader in education research and teacher training.
