About the Centre/Service South Mornington Preschool (SMPS) is located in Mornington. We are a parent managed, not-for-profit organisation, providing a safe, flexible and stimulating environment for children to develop and grow whilst establishing the foundations for a seamless transition to primary education. Parents are warmly welcomed at the preschool and their input is greatly valued across all areas of the pre-school. SMPS is made up of a connected community who all work together for the benefit of the children. We offer a sessional kindergarten experience, with two 3-4yo multi-age groups and one 3 year old group. We have a generous natural outdoor area, which includes a vegetable patch, outdoor play kitchen, mud pit, fairy garden, two sandpits, cubby house, swings, numerous climbing frames and other play spaces. We run an inclusive program where all children are welcomed and valued for their unique contribution to the pre-school community. We believe in working together to solve problems, gain perspectives and reach shared goals. SMPS is committed to educating our children about the environment and sustainable living practices. We have been running our Bush Kinder program for the 4 year old groups once a week since 2013, at the Briars Park in Mt Martha for 3.5 hours per week. At SMPS, we strongly believe in the importance of nature and outside play in the child’s learning and development as children are natural learners. The dedicated and experienced team of staff and parents work collaboratively with children and families. We aim to provide a thoughtful and inclusive program in which children and families feel supported and represented.

Description
  1. South Mornington Preschool (SMPS) is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Certificate III/Diploma Educator to work with our 3-4yo multi age kinder group, including a bush kinder program.  The successful applicant will have: 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with their team members, the children, families and the Committee of Management. 
  • Proven experience within a kindergarten environment, preferably an independent community preschool run by a parent committee. 
  • A sound knowledge of early childhood development and the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of a high quality educational program.
  • Experience and confidence within delivering a bush kinder program will be beneficial to applicants but not required. 
This role will comprise of 17 hours per week. It is a permanent part time position on a 12-month contract, with the provision for ongoing after 12 months and will commence in Term 1, 2022. The successful applicant’s salary will be commensurate with their experience and qualifications, and in line with Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement 2020 (VECTEA).
Qualifications What we are looking for;
  • Certificate III/Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or ACECQA assessed qualifications
  • Working with Children Check and Police Check
  • Current First Aid Cert level 2 including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Epipen Training
  • A genuine passion for Early Childhood Education
