About the Centre/Service Saltwater Childcare Centre (SCCC) is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher. SCCC was first established in 1992 and works in partnership with the Maribyrnong City Council. We are a 46-place centre which is committed to providing high quality care and education for young children in a supportive, nurturing and educational environment. We are a parent managed, not-for profit community-based childcare committed to building and maintaining supportive trusting relationships with children, families, and with the local community.

Description The successful applicant will be leading our new integrated 3 year old Kindergarten program working within our  26 place 3-5 year old room with two experienced qualified educators and a Kindergarten Teacher operating the four year old program. This will be a two year contract.
  • Working in collaboration with the four year old Early Childhood Teacher to ensure that the care and education provided is consistent with the centre philosophy, and in line with the National Quality Framework
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of key guiding documents in Early Childhood including, but not limited to; Education & Care Services National Law Act 2010, Education & Care Services National Regulations 2011, National Quality Standards and the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics
  • Ability to engage with and support children in a play based educational setting
  • Ability to provide a high quality educational program reflecting the planning cycle
  • A sound knowledge of the VEYLDF, EYLF, NQF and Kindergarten Funding guidelines
  • Ability to build and maintain strong and meaningful relationships with children and families
  • Awareness and respect for the cultural needs of families
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality of information
  • Capacity to work positively within a team environment
  • Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Experience in online documentation and technology
  • Ability to access and maintain the Kindergarten Management System (KIM – Department of Education and Training)
  • Responsible for applying for inclusion support and liaising with Kindergarten Inclusion Support Agencies
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with other service providers to support the needs of individual children and families
Qualifications Applicants must hold a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or equivalent recognised (by ACECQA) qualification, VIT registration, current First Aid and current Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training.

Additional Requirements Preferred applicants will have experience working in a multi-age room, or interest in working within a multi-age room in integrated long day care. You will be working collaboratively with the 4 year old Kindergarten Teacher.
