Be You can assist the wellbeing of your whole learning community, including educators

Wellbeing encompasses the health of the whole person: physical, mental, social and emotional. It is about balance in all aspects of life.

As an educator, maintaining your wellbeing is important for supporting the wellbeing of others – the children and young people, families and colleagues in your learning community.

Educators model wellbeing and resilience

When educators are mentally healthy they can model wellbeing and resilience  which has a positive impact on the members and culture of their whole learning community.

Your role can be both challenging and rewarding. Maintaining positive mental health and wellbeing can be tough with many factors influencing stress: workloads, workplace environments and relationships, community expectations and your expectations.

By taking responsibility for your mental health and wellbeing, and understanding it is fundamental for your personal and professional success, you are supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the whole learning community.

Wellbeing flourishes in a supportive and inclusive environment

Mental health and wellbeing flourishes in an environment where diversity is acknowledged and respected, where everyone can feel valued and connected to their learning community.

Learning communities are often comprised of children, families and educators from diverse cultures, family structures, abilities and learning styles. A mentally healthy learning community is characterised by strong supportive relationships between all the members. Educators can facilitate connections, and work with community members to create a respectful and inclusive environment that promotes mental health and wellbeing for everyone.
