Services are reminded that the Capacity Building and Improvement Grant streams of the Victorian Government’s ‘Building Blocks’ new streamlined early childhood education infrastructure program are currently taking applications.

Building Blocks is a planning and funding program run by the Victorian Government to help deliver the early childhood infrastructure Victoria needs over this decade. This includes strengthened partnerships with local councils and other kindergarten providers, a single streamlined grants program, and the construction and delivery of new kindergartens on or next to school sites.

Capacity Building Grants Stream – open

  • Apply now for projects that create extra kindergarten places for three and four-year-olds by building new or expanding existing facilities
  • Four categories available: Integrated Children’s Centre, New Early Learning Facility, Modular Kindergarten Buildings, and Expansion
  • Increased maximum state contributions (up to $2 million)
  • New quick delivery options including modular buildings

Improvement  Grants Stream – open

  • provides funding for upgrades and minor expansions to early learning facilities, or investment in IT equipment.

Three categories of grants are available:

  • Early Learning Facility Upgrades: funding for renovating or refurbishing facilities to improve the quality of learning environments for kindergarten children.
  • Minor Infrastructure:  ‘minor grants’ to local councils and other early learning service providers for small refurbishments and expansions to early learning facilities
  • Information Technology:  for purchasing IT equipment or televisions for administration or learning programs.

Building Blocks Grants replaces previous grants schemes – the Children’s Facilities Capital Program and the Inclusive Kindergartens Facilities Program.

Submit your application by:

  • 22 June 2020 for Information Technology Grants
  • 20 July 2020 for Early Learning Facility Upgrades and Minor Improvements
