Some facts about Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC)
+ A child’s brain undergoes up to 90 per cent of its development in the first five years (Commonwealth Government, 2017).
+ Once vulnerable children start school behind their peers, they remain behind for the rest of their schooling (Pascoe and Brennan, 2017).
+ Children who attend ECEC are 50 per cent less likely to have developmental vulnerabilities.
Why we need your help
+ Because the ages of three to five are considered the ‘sweet spot’ for reducing disadvantage in readiness for school it’s vital that a child’s kindergarten attendance is not disrupted.
+ With the COVID-19 pandemic increasing child vulnerability, there’s a greater need than ever to alleviate the costs of ECEC.
+ The Foundation helps to ensure children don’t miss out on kindergarten.
