06 AugCOVID-19 update from Vic DET

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) services will have received an update from the Victorian Department of Education and Training (Vic DET) yesterday evening in response to the latest reintroduction of stay-at-home restrictions in Victoria (effective as of 8p.m. on 5 August). If you missed the update the key points covered include:

  • ECEC services, including kindergartens, are permitted to remain open with appropriate risk mitigation measures in place (unless instructed by the Victorian Department of Health to close).
  • travel permits
  • OSHC services to operate in line with schools.
  • face masks remain discretionary for ECEC staff directly teaching or caring but mandatory at all other times
  • visitor rules
  • student teachers
  • excursions / incursions
  • photography sessions
  • singing and wind instruments
  • orientation and transition
  • managing illness
  • when services are required to close
  • COVID related cleaning grants.
