22 OctELAA CEO UPDATE 22 OCTOBER 2021

Posted on 22 Oct 2021

Dear members and friends

Like me, I’m sure all our Victorian members have been waiting for today and the first significant lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in around four months across the state. The key change for Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services is that, beginning on Friday 22 October, other parents/guardians – whose children are not currently eligible to attend ECEC and wish to do so, will need to show their ECEC service evidence that both parents/carers or the parent/carer (if single) have been fully vaccinated or exempt. There’s more information on this in eNews.

You can also find helpful member-only resources to assist with COVID vaccination management in your service in the My Membership section of the ELAA website. In addition we are working  on finalising an agreement with FCB Workplace Law where ELAA member employers can access additional legal support for issues related to mandatory vaccinations. FCB Workplace Law is one of Australia’s leading workplace relations law firms. If you think you need to get in touch with FCB regarding staff COVID vaccination at your service then contact ELAA’s Workplace Relations Advisors who can refer you to a consultation with FCB based on your needs. Our Member Solutions team can be contacted on (03) 9489 3500 (Press 2) between 10 am – 3 pm, Monday to Friday or email us at membersolutions@elaa.org.au

Members may have  seen the recently published ACECQA 10 Year National Workforce Strategy. It was pleasing for ELAA  to be able to promote the good work of our members which is highlighted in the Strategy as well as showcasing the role of the VECTEA in supporting professional wages. I am also thrilled that, following advocacy from ELAA, the Victorian Government has announced funding of $4,500 for kindergartens for projects to improve ventilation and air quality as part of reducing COVID-19 risks – find out more in eNews

Finally, don’t forget to register for our Annual General Meeting on 18 November. We’ll be celebrating 30 years of ELAA with great speakers, prizes and there’s an opportunity for members to join in with our photo and caption competition and video ‘shout out’.

Stay safe
