09 SepHave your say and promote early childhood engagement of diverse communities in Victoria

Posted on 09 Sep 2019

Early childhood engagement is being examined by the Victorian Parliament’s Legislative Assembly Legal and Social Issues Committee, with a focus on the experiences of and programs available for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. The Committee is interested in hearing directly from culturally diverse families, and all stakeholders … including those from the early childhood sector, health and social services, peak bodies, and research organisations.

The Committee wants to hear about the extent and impact of young children’s involvement in health services, early childhood education and care, early years of schooling, local community programs, and child and family support services.

An online survey and details on how to make a written submission by 11 October 2019 are at www.parliament.vic.gov.au/CALDchildinquiry or phone (03) 8682 2843 for more information.

A poster that promotes participation in the Inquiry has been translated into 11 languages (Arabic, Chin, traditional and simplified Chinese, Dari, Dinka, Khmer, Karen, Punjabi, Persian, Spanish, Somali and Vietnamese) and is available here for services wanting to inform CALD groups and individuals within their community. There are also social media resources on the Inquiry page to use to help increase participation.
