The new Towards Zero Strategy and Action Plan 2016-2020 will follow on from Victoria’s current road safety strategy.
After a concerted effort by many key stakeholders in the early childhood space, including Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA), the current strategy became the first to acknowledge the early childhood sector. A commitment to continue funding the Starting Out Safely Program and supporting early childhood services to adopt road safety education and safe transportation policies was an important inclusion in the strategy.
ELAA is encouraging educators and families to consider issues which effect the safety of children in our communities as passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists and acknowledge that children have the right to equal mobility and access.
