19 OctKinder ventilation support funding

Posted on 19 Oct 2021

Following advocacy from ELAA, the Victorian Government has announced funding of $4,500 for kindergartens for projects to improve ventilation and air quality as part of reducing COVID-19 risks.

Projects could include:

  • shade sails or shade structures to create outdoor learning spaces
  • air purifiers
  • other building works to maximise ventilation, for example fixing windows to ensure they open or adding additional windows or doors to create greater air flow.

All eligible providers will receive an email in early Term 4 from the Victorian Government asking to confirm that funding will be used to improve ventilation/air purification, or to enhance outdoor learning spaces.

Kindergartens wishing to proceed will receive funding in early Term 4, 2021. They must manage their projects and comply with all policies and regulations outlined in the funding guidelines.

Council owned services and committees getting may wish to also  get in touch with their councils to get approval for any works that they would like to undertake involving structural changes.

If you would like more information about this program, or need assistance with the funding process, please email the Victorian Schools Building Authority Early Childhood Grants Team at building.blocks@education.vic.gov.au
