Safety – not just child’s play

The employer has a key role in ensuring a service’s operations are safe and without risk to health for all staff at the service. There is a difference between an OH&S officer and an OH&S representative and their responsibilities according to the OHS Act 2004. Also, OH&S requirements at your service fall under National Quality Standards QA2, QA3, QA4 and QA7. With these in mind, do you feel adequately equipped to ensure the health and safety of everyone in your early childhood service?

ELAA presents a one-day professional development Safety – not just child’s play that will provide practical information and guidance on how to manage risks by addressing the most common hazards faced by the early childhood sector. Zora Marko (ELAA) and Emma Morgan (Recovre) will cover a broad range of topics including:

  • OHS laws in Victoria
  • Duties of employees
  • Hazard identification assessments
  • Manual handling
  • Office ergonomics
  • Psychological wellbeing of employees
  • Worker’s compensation
  • Supporting employee return to work.
