22 AugUpdate on deadline for Vic parents to complete authorised worker permits to access ECEC

Posted on 22 Aug 2021

Further information on requirements for authorised workers to access childcare, kindergarten and early education centres.

Childcare, kindergarten and early education centres are open only for the children of authorised workers if they cannot work from home or if no supervision is available at home, or for a vulnerable child.

From 11:59pm on 23 August, authorised workers in Victoria can only access childcare, kindergarten and early education centres (and take a child to a centre) with a valid authorised worker permit. Therefore, for practical purposes, this requirement comes into effect from Tuesday morning.

To obtain this permit, download the form at https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/authorised-provider-and-authorised-worker-permit#accessing-childcare-as-an-authorised-worker (if you can’t see the link to the form scroll up).

The permit must be valid and certified by an employer.

Parents and carers of vulnerable children can also access childcare, kindergarten and early education centres. A permit is not required in this case.

Over the coming days,  ELAA will provide members with further updates on how this will impact ECEC service operations in Victoria once further information is at hand from the Victorian Departments of Education and Training and Health and Human Services.
