25 OctUpdated advice on parent vaccinations

Posted on 25 Oct 2021

Beginning on Friday 22 October parents/guardians – of children in metropolitan Melbourne are not currently eligible to attend and wish to do so – will need to show their ECEC service evidence that:

  • where there are two parents/guardians who share responsibility for the care of the child (whether the parents/guardians are living together or not), both parents/guardians are double vaccinated or have a medical exemption, or
  • where there is one parent/guardian only with responsibility for caring for the child, that the one parent/guardian is double vaccinated or has a medical exemption.

ECEC operators will be required to sight this evidence before they permit the children of these parents/guardians to attend the ECEC service. However, operators are not required to record that they have sighted this evidence, or capture or keep this evidence.

ECEC operators may choose to request that parents/guardians affected by this rule provide evidence prior to the first morning of attendance (to support smooth drop-off and/or rostering arrangements).

Evidence of vaccination status to be sighted by ECEC operators can include:

This requirement will remain in place until 6p.m. 29 October or until otherwise advised.
