15 DecVaccinations for five-year olds

Posted on 15 Dec 2021

Children aged between five and 11 years will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination from 10 January 2021. The Victorian Government aims to enable all children aged five to 11 to receive at least one vaccine dose before the end of January 2022, and a second dose before 8 April 2022. Some children will already be five at the start of the year, while others will turn five over the year. Families should book their children in for vaccination as soon as possible after their fifth birthday.

The Victorian Department of Education and Training is seeking your support to send this letter to your communities. The letter promotes the availability of the vaccine and makes parents aware of useful resources. A simple English version of the message is available; translations will be available online in the coming days.

Experts from the Royal Children’s Hospital will hold a Facebook live session – ‘COVID-19 vaccinations for five- to 11-year-olds: Your questions answered’ on Thursday 16 December at 11am. Refer to the Facebook page for more information.
