31 JulPaid family and domestic violence leave changes for small employers

Posted on 31 Jul 2023

From 1 August 2023, employees of small business employers (fewer than 15 employees) can access 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave in a 12-month period.

This National Employment Standards (NES) entitlement will now be available for all employees, including full-time, part-time and casuals.

This change will bring small employers’ obligations in line with other employers, who have been obligated to offer paid leave since 1 February 2023.

Members are advised that this change does not affect VECTEA 2020 (or mirror agreement) employers or committees, who are required to provide 20 days of paid leave.

Further information on eligibility and employer obligations is available from the Fair Work Ombudsman website: Employer guide to family and domestic violence – Fair Work Ombudsman.
