Managing underperformance and misconduct in the workplace can be a challenging task that requires a comprehensive understanding of your industrial relations obligations. Fortunately, the Managing Performance Related Concerns (MPRC) Resource is here to guide you through these complex issues.

Developed by the Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA) in partnership with the Department of Education (DE), this resource provides employers with a best practice guide for managing employee performance-related concerns. The MPRC resource is a partner to the Employee Management and Development Kit (EM&D), which helps establish a positive performance evaluation and development system from the outset.

By providing timely feedback and annual performance evaluations, most performance concerns can be identified early and managed. However, in cases where an employee’s conduct or performance requires an individualized management response, the MPRC resource provides the necessary guidance and tools to address these issues effectively.

The MPRC resource has been updated and expanded in 2022 to enable employers to manage serious underperformance or misconduct issues.

Each section of the MPRC resource includes a comprehensive guide, relevant tip-sheets, guides, and tools to assist Committees of Management and employers in the early childhood education and care sector. Employers are encouraged to seek professional and/or legal advice where appropriate, including in situations that may warrant termination of employment.

Furthermore, this updated MPRC resource includes specific references to requirements and procedures in the Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement 2020 (VECTEA). Employers with detailed policies are encouraged to use their policies and procedures in conjunction with this resource.

The MPRC resource is an essential tool for managing performance-related concerns in the workplace. It is available for purchase and provides employers with the necessary guidance and best practices to ensure compliance with their industrial relations obligations.

We encourage you to take advantage of this valuable resource in managing employee performance-related concerns. Managing Performance Related Concerns can be downloaded for free from our resource section which is linked here.
