Victoria needs more teachers for 3-year-old Kindergarten – financial assistance info and recruiting resources

Building a strong workforce

The Victorian Government is introducing universal funded Three Year Old Kindergarten and this reform will create more than 4,000 new kindergarten teacher jobs across the state. Staff in your service or someone looking to make a start in early learning could be eligible to receive scholarships of up to $25,000 towards an approved undergraduate qualification. (more…)

ELAA CEO UPDATE 3 MARCH 2021

It’s a very encouraging sign that the most recent COVID 19 outbreak in Victoria would appear to be under control with the Victorian Government now being sufficiently confident to wind back restrictions to pre-Christmas levels. An updated summary of the key restrictions now in place and how they affect Victorian ECEC services can be found on the ELAA COVID 19 Frequently Asked Questions page on the ELAA website.

The easing of restrictions has also meant that more ELAA staff are returning to the ELAA office after a lengthy period of working from home. (more…)

Kinder Tick launched with supporting communications resources

Last week, Victoria introduced a new logo able to be used by all early childhood education and care services delivering funded kindergarten programs. The Kinder Tick will be a new way that parents and carers can identify where their child can access a funded kindergarten program. It will also be extra tool for services to use when explaining to families what they can expect from a kindergarten program, and the benefits children stand to gain by taking part. (more…)

What do the easing of COVID related restrictions in Vic as of 11.59pm 26/2/21 mean for ECEC services?

Installing a Defibrillator Could Be a Life Changing Decision

When South Kingsville Preschool decided to purchase an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) they sought the expertise of one of their staff, Sue, a registered nurse. They knew she had firsthand knowledge regarding the benefits of having onsite AEDs to save precious treatment time. An AED can improve survival odds because they can be used before emergency medical service personnel arrive. In the event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, the only thing that will restart the heart is a shock from a defibrillator.
