Good news for EYMs … government announces new grants
ELAA has been advised by the Victorian Department of Education and Training of a new one-off grant to be made available to Victorian Early Years Managers (EYMs). The grants will assist EYM services running or commencing a funded Three-Year-Old program and are a direct result of ELAA’s advocacy to government on behalf of EYMs. (more…)

Don’t take it as read – adult literacy
ELAA recently contributed to the VCOSS Submission to the Commonwealth House Standing Committee on Employment, Education and Training inquiry into Adult literacy and its importance. Literacy skills enable people to get a job, look after their health and thrive in the community. The submission calls on the Commonwealth Government to invest in prevention and early intervention measures, such as committing to long-term funding under the National Partnerships Agreement on Universal Access to Early Childhood Education and expanding this to include the provision of three-year-old kindergarten.

National Quality Framework 2019 Review
ELAA has consulted with our members in the formulation of this submission to the National Quality Framework 2019 Review through meetings, a workshop and promoting the opportunity to provide written feedback directly. ELAA’s extensive experience in providing the Road Safety Education program over the past eleven years informed our detailed feedback on children’s safety during regular transportation, including identifying additional risks for consideration. The options outlined in relation to evacuation from multi-story buildings were also supported and additional considerations were proposed such as recognition of the role of lockdowns as an emergency response.
