National Road Safety Week 2021 is 16 – 23 May

Every year, the number of deaths and serious injuries on our roads remains far too high, with 1,200 deaths and 44,000 serious injuries annually with a Road Trauma cost to the Australian economy of more than $30 billion. Kindergarten Inclusion Support Program: Specialised Equipment Trial

The Victorian Department of Education and Training is starting a new Specialised Equipment Trial (SET) as part of the existing Kindergarten Inclusion Support (KIS) program, which will operate during the 2021 and 2022 kindergarten years. Specialised equipment will be available for loan, at no cost, to funded kindergarten services to assist them to support children with significant disabilities. (more…)

Koorie Kids Shine new promotional resources

The Koorie Kids shine program offers Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families 15 hours of free kindergarten each week for their three-year-old or four-year-old children.

New promotional materials have been developed for Early Childhood Education and Care services to encourage Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families to enrol their children in kindergarten. They include (more…)

VIT update and support on the revised Victorian Teaching Profession’s Code of Conduct

The revised Code of Conduct will be circulated to all registered teachers and early childhood teachers as well as key education stakeholders in Term 2 2021, with the Code coming into effect in Term 3 2021. New Worker Screening Act 2020 and Worker Screening Regulation 2021

As of 1 February 2021, there are legislative and regulatory changes to Working with Children Checks which are required when a person wants to engage in child-related work.  The Worker Screening Act 2020 has come into force with the Working with Children Act 2005 being repealed. The Working with Children Regulation 2006 has also been repealed and Worker Screening Regulation 2021 now apply. (more…)
